Greetings! Happy fall (tomorrow)!
I have received much positive feedback regarding the stories attached to my wearable art pendants and will continue to share many of them with you here on my blog.
Today I am highlighting one of my favorite designs - the Celtic Trinity or Triple Spiral Pendant. It is a simple, bold and balanced symbol that appeals to most of us on a very deep level. The symbol has a number of interpretations, most of which are closely associated with the Ancient Celtic Tradition.

The most common interpretation of the 3 joined spirals is that it represents the 3 stages of a woman’s life: maiden, mother, & crone. The ancient Celts also used this symbol to represent growth, birth, and expansion… the endlessness of the life cycle. The spirals connote radiating energy - either outward or inward - depending on the perspective they are viewed from. When found in illuminated manuscripts it is believed it represented the waxing, waning, and full moon.
This symbol is fairly prevalent in some African cultures and may be referred to as a ‘dwennimmen’ and represents ram horns...it is a symbol of strength and humility. I had one customer from Africa tell me, to her, it was a good luck symbol.
They all work for me!
