WEATHERING

On Saturday my usual sidekick (my incredible husband) had a gig of his own…so my awesome daughter Caitie and her awesome boyfriend Eric came to the Salt Lake Market with me to help set up the canopy and sell. Wow! Caitie is an amazing selling machine!!!

The weather was perfect and we delighted in basking in the shade of two gorgeous old trees… that were dropping tiny little bugs/worms? onto our display table. Not to worry…a young girl admiring our wares…scooped them up into an empty pistachio nut shell and whisked them back to safety!

I met an incredible glass/metal sculptor-artist…Cheryl Collins. I became familiar with her beautiful art earlier this year when we were in St. George and visited the Kayenta-Ivins area…absolutely breathtaking red rock country in Southern Utah. It was such a pleasure to meet her in person and talk ‘art’. If you want a visual treat click this link: http://cheryl.collinsart.net/ to view her stunning work!

Sunday was our first Park City market…Park Silly.
It was 45 degrees and rainy most of the day.
Attendance was zip during the downpours…
with a few brave souls venturing into the market when the rain was at a mild mist.
In spite of it all we came out ahead! I have great vendor neighbors and am looking
forward to sunny weather for the 4th of July weekend…
I have put my order in with Mother Nature!

Rainy Day Park Silly Market - L. Scopes 6/2011

Finally we will be participating in a new market. On the Sundays we are not at the Park Silly market we will be at the Wasatch Front Farmer’s Market held at the historic Wheeler Farm located @ 6351 South 900 East, Murray - Hours: 8:00am-1:00pm. Although this market is new…attendance has been huge! We are so excited to be a part of it! We will be there on these dates: 7/31, 8/7, 8/21, 9/4, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25.

I am so grateful the market season is upon us. I believe there is no office that can compare to the joy of greeting and meeting people and sharing lovingly crafted wares in the open air!

‘Nature is so powerful, so strong. Capturing its essence is not easy - your work becomes a dance with light and the weather. It takes you to a place within yourself.’
